ISD Celebrates 30 th Annual Day

Indian School Darsait held its 30 th Annual Day Celebrations at the Grand Hall, Al-Falaj Hotel on 10 th November 2022. H.E. Shri Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman was the Chief Guest for the occasion and Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, Board of Directors,Indian Schools in Oman was the Guest of Honour. Amongst others who graced the occasion were Dignitaries from the Indian Embassy, Oman, distinguished guests from the Board of Directors and members of the School Management Committee.
The Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of India marked the commencement of the event followed by lighting of the lamp. An invocation dance performed by the students evoked the blessings of the Almighty. The Head Boy, Maganda Dinesh, accorded a formal
welcome to the guests. Mr. Ajit Vasudevan, Convenor & Head of Academics, School Management Committee addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to the parents for their unstinted support extended to the school.A Gujarati dance performed by the students mesmerised the audience. It was followed by a digital presentation of the Annual Report by Mr. Amar Srivastava, Principal of the school,
strolling the audience through an archive of activities, events, accomplishments and laurels clinched by ISD. The Chief Guest honoured the staff for completing 25 years of service at ISD and for excellence in teaching. The students were felicitated for their remarkable achievements in the field of academics and sports. His Excellency also presented the trophies to the runners up and winners of Inter-House cultural events & Overall Champion House of the year. While addressing the gathering His Excellency lauded Indian School Darsait for its achievements in three decades and the leading role it has been playing in the lives of the Indian diaspora. The Chief Guest called upon the students to consider education as ‘a vehicle and passport’ for success and proposed a 4-pronged matrix for learning emphasizing on learning from everyone, learning from everything, learning about surroundings and learning to ask ‘why’ in order to be a better learner. The Chief Guest was felicitated by Mr. Sirajudeen Nhelat, Academic Chair, BoD and Director in charge, Indian School Darsait. An exceptional ‘Jugalbandi’ incorporating both vocals and multiple instruments was presented by the students which was applauded by one and all. A spectacular ‘Musical Symphony’ was
performed by the Primary Section Choir encompassing international music of different genres. The tiny tots from Kindergarten stole the show with ‘Around the World’ which portrayed art deeply woven into the social fabric highlighting the culture and folklore of different countries
giving the lovely message of ‘We are different, We are one, We are unity’! The Guest of Honour Dr. Sivakumar Manickam felicitated the teachers for their long service and the teachers who fostered their students to achieve centum in the Board Examination of the year 2021-22. The achievers of Malayalam Essay Writing Competition and ceremonial heads were also felicitated by him. In his address, the Guest of Honour congratulated everyone for the stellar performance in  academics and achievements in non-academic domains. He urged the parents and teachers to inculcate values in our children like love for humanity and nature. Dr. Manickam was felicitated by Mr. Ajit Vasudevan, Convenor, School Management committee, Contemporary dance ‘Step up with props’ performed by the senior students highlighted the social issues deep rooted in our society and left the audience awestruck. The celebrations concluded with ‘A Journey through Indian Folk Dances’ by the Primary students which was a mind-blowing collection of exotic folk dances that traced the origins of various dance forms. The vote of thanks was given by Bhavika Biju, Head Girl. The plethora of cultural presentations by the students made the evening quite a memorable one.
