STUDENT LEADERS INVESTED AT INDIAN SCHOOL DARSAIT

Indian School Darsait inaugurated its newly formed Student Council for the academic year 2023-24 in a grand ceremony held at the Senior School auditorium on Tuesday, May 16. Mr. Jayapal Manik Dethe, Second Secretary (Political and Education) at the Embassy of India in Muscat and Director of the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony commenced with a sense of unity and dynamism as the school choir performed a melodious prayer song following the Lord's prayer. Vice Principal, Ms Geeta Chauhan vitalized the gathering with a cordial welcome speech.

 

The investiture ceremony signifies the school's trust and confidence in the newly appointed office bearers. Accepting the mantle of accountability, they pledge to fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities. Principal, Mr. Amar Srivastava, introduced the Ceremonial Heads, General Prefects, House Prefects, Vice Captains, and Captains, and administered the oath. The House Counsellors introduced the new House Prefects, Vice Captains, and Captains.

Mr. Jayapal Manik Dethe and Mr. Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran, President of the School Management Committee (SMC), conferred the badges and sashes upon the young student leaders, entrusting them with their responsibilities. The solemn moment of taking the oath of responsibility was truly graceful and captivating. It was a proud moment for the parents of the newly elected members, witnessing their children embark on a new journey as real leaders. The Chief Guest congratulated the student leaders, advising them to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties. He emphasized the importance of upholding values and shared fond memories of his own school days, inspiring the newly elected council members with his words of wisdom and his life story of success.

Mr. Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran, President of the SMC, stressed the importance of unbiased execution of duties by the newly appointed Student Council. He encouraged the students to actively participate in the myriad of activities that the school offers to develop a well-rounded personality. He urged them to always choose the right path and be agents of change. Mr. Shalimar Moideen, Vice President and Head of the Academic Subcommittee, SMC, advised the Student Council members to remain humble and grateful as they embarked on a new beginning, emphasizing that the values and ethos imbibed from the school would guide them throughout their lives. He further illustrated the qualities of a true leader through an anecdote.

"Investiture is one of the many opportunities provided to students to engage in activities that promote and encourage values of respect and responsibility," said Mr. Amar Srivastava, Principal of ISD. On this occasion, the Principal conveyed his best wishes to all the council members as they embarked on a pioneering journey at ISD in their leadership roles. The school choir presented choral singing which filled the aura in the hall with enthusiasm. Aby Jacob Varghese, Head Boy, on behalf of the Student Council, delivered an Acceptance Speech reiterating their commitment to work optimally for the school. Aysha Davood, Head Girl, proposed a Vote of Thanks, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to all for making the event a memorable one.
