Indian School Darsait organized the first ever Online Solo Singing Competition, MELODY VIBES for the Parents from Thursday, 18 June to Tuesday, 23 June 2020 from 7 pm to 9 pm. It was a part of the Parent Outreach Programme – an initiative by the school to reach out to the Parents during this global Pandemic, COVID -19 and to stay connected.

The event was inaugurated on the first day (18 June 2020) by Mr. Jaikish Pavithran, President, School Management Committee. In his inaugural address, the President appreciated the Parents for their response to the maiden venture and commended their unstinted support to the School activities. He also assured all the music lovers of a memorable event. Mr. Alexander Gee Varghese, Acting Principal extended a cordial welcome to everyone attending the event through the virtual platform. The event which went on for five days had as many as 91 participants out of 138 parents registered, compete spiritedly in this mega event. Google Meet was chosen to conduct the event and entry to the platform was through the school domain in order to assure smooth conduct. Maximum participation and audience attendance was assured through live streaming on Google Meet, YouTube and Facebook and hence, every effort was made to ensure that the programme reached a wide audience.

Each evening started with a welcome note by the Principal and an encouragement note by the President, SMC.  The participants who were informed about their slot, came up and enthralled the audience live as if they were performing on a real stage. No limits or restrictions of the pandemic deterred their talent show but most of them put up their best performance with the accompaniment of karaoke. Filmy and non - filmy songs in various Indian languages reverberated in every home of the ISD Fraternity all through those 5 days creating a stress free ambience which was the main objective of the event. 

The online competition concluded on 23 June 2020 and Mrs. Blessy Diana Shijin, Member, SMC and Head Co-Curricular Subcommittee proposed vote of thanks. She congratulated ISD family for taking the event close to their hearts and making it a remarkable one. She further expressed her gratitude to the judges for their strenuous efforts in judging the competition and for the teachers who anchored the event most vibrantly. Mr. Jaikish Pavithran, President, School Management Committee announced the results of the competition and congratulated the participants and the winners for making Melody Vibes an instant hit and added that the school is committed to bringing out quality events even in these difficult times and will make all efforts to stay connected with the Parent Community through initiatives such as these. 

Dhanya Praveen parent of Prathyush Praveen won the coveted first prize with 125 marks and Deepa Jogins parent of Leona Mariya Jogins secured the second prize with 123 marks while Angshuman Chakraborty parent of Rupanghshu Chakraborty and Sangeetha Praveen parent of Snigdha Praveen Nair shared the third position scoring 112 marks each. Apart from those winners there were ten parents whose performances were also highly commendable. Following are the parents who won the consolation prizes: Ganesh Krishnan, Nishmitha Preethesh Bhandarkar, Sujith.K.Soman, Sreejith K Chandran, Asha Kamilah P.A., G Muralikrishnan, Hasina Bawa, Bavana Balakrishnan Nair, Deepa Biju, Cini Geo. E-Certificates have been sent to all the prize winners and special participation certificates to all the participants.

The competition which was conceived and intended to make ISD family stress-free was live-streamed on Google Meet, Facebook and YouTube thus helping music lovers all over to enjoy their evenings.  Definitely it poured in lot of applause and appreciation from the well-wishers of ISD across the world, making it a huge success.
