ISD Celebrates Success on 31st Annual Day 2024

The 31st Annual Day of Indian School Darsait was held on Thursday,1st February 2024. Mr. Hashil bin Habib Al Hasani, Sheikh of Darsait, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Al Azhar Saud Al Salmi, former Assistant Director of the Foreign Schools Office, Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman, was the Guest of Honour. Mohammed Salim Al Abri, Senior Studies and Follow-up Specialist from Al Batinah South Governorate, Ministry of Education, was also present as the special guest for the evening. Among the other dignitaries present were members of Board of Directors, SMC Vice President Mr. Shalimar Moideen, Convenor Mr. Nishanth P P, Treasurer Mr. Ashraf V. and other members of School Management Committee, the Principal and administrators. Parents and well-wishers joined the celebration apart from the teachers and students.

The function commenced with the Royal Anthem of Oman followed by the National Anthem of India and the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp. An invocation dance performed by the senior students added a special ambience to the event. Aysha Davood, Head Girl, extended a warm welcome to the august gathering.

In his presidential address, Mr. Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran highlighted the top scores in various subjects, applauded the hard work of students, emphasized school management committee initiatives, and sought parental support. He further congratulated everyone for academic excellence and outstanding achievements in non-academic domains. Mr. Amar Srivastava, the Principal, made a digital presentation of the Annual Report of the academic year, showcasing student growth, development and accolades.

The Chief Guest expressed gratitude for the invitation, congratulated the school on the success of the programme and assured his generous and unstinted support to the Indian community. He further felicitated Mrs. Halima Khudabaskh Eid Mohd al Balushi for completing 25 years of service as well as teachers who completed 12 years of service. Additionally, he honoured the teachers who won the prestigious 'Navin Asher Kazi Awards for excellence in teaching', the teachers who were instrumental in bringing National Toppers in their subjects in classes X and XII Board Examinations 2022-23, and the staff who secured Cent Percent Attendance in the current academic year.

The Guest of Honour presented awards and certificates to the toppers of various subjects, the Ceremonial Heads, and Coordinators of the Student Council. Trophies were awarded to the Champions and Runners-up in cultural events, the Best House and the Second Best House of the year respectively. The cultural extravaganza featured an orchestra named 'Ensemble', a fusion of Indo-Western rhythm by senior students, and a Folk song performed by junior children. A 'Folk dance' by primary school students captivated the audience with grace and elegance. The key attraction was 'Circle of Light', presented by the tiny tots of KG-II. The little ones further mesmerized the audience with a spectacular display of talent and fervour.

The function concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Aby Jacob Varghese, Head Boy. Overall, the celebration was a grand success in terms of audience appeal and applause.
