Indian School Darsait students brought laurels to the school with their
outstanding achievements at the Oman Gavel Championship of Public Speaking
2026. At the Grand Finale, Reeka Shrigal secured the First Position, Aditya Rao
emerged as the First Runner-Up in the Table Topics Speech Contest, and Aaryan
Pradeep qualified for the Grand Finale, making the school immensely proud.
The championship witnessed spirited participation from young speakers
representing Gavel Clubs across the Sultanate of Oman. Competitions were held
in four categories – Evaluation Contest, Humorous Speech Contest, Table Topics
Speech Contest and International Speech Contest – with 32 finalists showcasing
exceptional oratory skills and confidence.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, H.E. G. V. Srinivas, Ambassador of India
to the Sultanate of Oman, who emphasized the importance of communication
skills in shaping confident global citizens. The keynote address on “Power of Your
Voice” was delivered by Mr. Damodar R. Katti, Managing Director, Design Group
Engineering Consultants and Director, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman,
inspiring students to use their voices with clarity and conviction.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Shalimar Moideen, President, School Management
Committee, Indian School Darsait highlighted the vital role of Gavel Clubs in
nurturing public speaking, leadership and personality development among
students. His words reinforced how platforms like these empower young learners
to grow into confident communicators and leaders.
On this occasion, the Oman Gavel Clubs’ newsletter “Gavel Buzz” was officially
released. The championship concluded on a memorable note, leaving participants
and audiences inspired by the power of words, ideas, and eloquent expression.
