TITLES CONFERRED ON ISD AMBASSADORS

Indian School Darsait organized the Investiture Ceremony of the office bearers and prefects of the Student Council for the academic year 2019-‘20 on 16 May at senior school auditorium. Mr. Jaikish Pavithran, President, SMC was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The programme commenced with a ceremonial procession to the auditorium, followed by prayer and lighting of the lamp. Mr. Alexander Gee Varghese, Vice Principal, senior section, extended a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest and the august gathering of dignitaries who included esteemed members of SMC, school administrators, staff, parents and students.

Dr. Sridevi P Thashnath Principal, briefed the audience about the purpose of student council and how the present body took shape through a transparent, democratic and rigorous process of selection and election. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal called upon all the newly elected office bearers to perform their duties diligently as they are the ambassadors of ISD. She advised the leaders to be humble, firm, empathetic, but refrain from being arrogant, stubborn and submissive. Moving on,  She proudly announced the names of young leaders for the ceremonial posts. The first in the list were Adil Sharafudheen and Sneha Ann Regi, Head Boy and Head Girl respectively, followed by  Felix Panagat Shaju -Sports Captain, Joanne Jaison -Cultural Secretary, Devika Mohanan- Literary Secretary, Nived R Nair -IT Secretary, Prithivilal Anilal- HSE Secretary, Deputy Ceremonial Heads, Aditya Rao- Assistant Head Boy, Anagha Ghosh- Assistant Head Girl and General Prefects. It was followed by the introduction of House Coordinators, House Captains, Vice Captains and House Prefects by the House Counsellors of four houses:  Bapu, C.V Raman, Tagore and Vivekananda.  The Principal administered the pledge to the new leaders thereafter.

The Chief Guest along with the Principal pinned badges and conferred sashes on the Ceremonial Heads, General Prefects, House Coordinators, Captains and Vice Captains while the House Counsellors did the honours to the House Prefects.

Mr. Jaikish Pavithran, addressing the students, congratulated the budding, capable leaders of ISD and urged them to follow the ‘four ships’- leadership, followership, relationship and ownership in life to emerge successful and efficient. He also pointed out the fact that badge holders were blessed as they were taking up their new assignments during the holy month of Ramadan. Taking a leaf out of his life, he emphasized on how hard work and enterprise have helped him to attain success in life. The Head Boy and the Head Girl representing the Student Council delivered their acceptance speech. They spoke emphatically on the nobility of their positions, swore their support and allegiance to the school and promised to discharge their duties and responsibilities as keen participants and role models.

Mr. B. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Vice Principal (secondary and senior secondary section), proposed vote of thanks and expressed his profound and profuse gratitude to the Chief Guest, other distinguished personalities and parents for sparing their valuable time in making the day a very memorable one. The school choir created a solemn ambience with their melodious and motivational rendition of songs.
